Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As the year nears towards an end, I hope you and your families are doing well and had a healthy and happy Thanksgiving. With the celebration of the holiday, I hope some normalcy has returned to people’s lives and we are nearing an end to the current situation that will allow all of us to meet and celebrate in Toronto next year.
To follow up to our previous announcement about the 2023 Convention being in Philadelphia (we would again like to thank Chapter Atheras for stepping up to host the convention), we had an in person Supreme Lodge meeting on November 20th at the Sheraton where the convention will be held.
The facilities looked nice. It looks like we will have an excellent lobby for people to congregate and say their hellos.
The location is central to many of Philadelphia’s great sites. In every direction, it is a short walk to sight see. The world class Philadelphia museums are all nearby and anyone who wants to run the “Rocky steps” at the Philadelphia Art Museum will see them right down the street.
At the Lodge meeting, Yianni Frangos updated the Lodge on the status of the 2022 Youth Conference. Yianni is in communication with several chapters that are interested in hosting the event.
In addition to the Lodge meeting and hotel tour, we had the honor of attending the testimonial held by AHEPA for Pan-Icaria Past Supreme President George Horiates for his service as their National President. The testimonial showed the great service that George has provided for the Hellenic Community and the Greek Diaspora. We are honored to have him as a PSP.
At the AHEPA ceremony, the Pan-Icarian donation of $10,000 for Greek fire relief was presented in accordance to the resolution adopted at the 2021 Convention.
Three months after the Convention, the Lodge is still looking for a governor for District 6. The district includes Buffalo, Toronto, and Montreal. Any eligible individual from any of these chapters would do the Brotherhood a great service by stepping up to fill this important role as the interface between the national organization and the local chapters. Please contact us if interested.
With the year end, we assume Chapters will be holding election, please remember to update the National Brotherhood of the individuals and their contact information. If you do not provide the information, important information may not funnel back to your Chapter.
Finally, Cleveland provided an updated status regarding the final numbers from the 2021 Convention. They are to be commended for hosting a successful convention in these difficult times. The Chapter notified us that due to their Herculean efforts, they did indeed make a profit. They will be sending a donation to the Foundation.
I hope your families have a Joyous Christmas.
Sincerely yours,
Cathy Pandeladis
Supreme President Pan-Icarian Brotherhood of America
