Ikarian Prayer

We are gathered to memorialize our Brother/Sister _____ who was a beloved member of the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood of America ‘Icaros’ Chapter____________.

_____________ shared our forefathers’ love of our beautiful homeland, our heritage, language, customs and most importantly his/her family.

Change created the need to leave for other countries in order to build a life of hope and promise in the spirit of Icarus.  Our Icarian parents and grandparents worked tirelessly to establish their families in the new country, and support those left behind.  Icarians  built new Churches and created a world for new generations to prosper, maintain their heritage, to preserve the language and the Greek Orthodox Faith.  It is this faith that strengthens our lives as we follow their examples of life and love and bravery.

In the words of Father Dimitri Lee:

“…Island of Ikaria has fostered over 7,000 years of civilization and culture of which

we are the grateful inheritors.  Allow the spirit of Ikaros to lie within each of us and

we ask  that the warmth of Your love does not become a burning fire, which consumes

            us, unworthy as we are.”

We will miss remember _____ , but know he/she is in a better place with no pain nor suffering.  On behalf of the Supreme Lodge, officers and members of the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood, we ask that he/she rest in Peace and his/her memory be eternal.
